This configuration is already checked out with the tool "security editor"

This FAQ applies to:
  • Clavister FineTune™ 8.70 - 8.90
Clavister Firewall Manager 8.00 and up
Symptom:
When you try to check out the Security Gateway it is already checked out by another security editor.
It could happen if you moved Clavister FineTune™ to another machine but forgot to check in the Security Gateway before the move.

Solution:
You need to delete a file created by the check out action and edit the .efw file manually.

First close Clavister FineTune™ and go to the directory you installed the manager.
Default path is: c:\program files\Clavister\FineTune\Default

Locate the SGWName.0000.efc file and delete it. The 0000.efc file is a temporary file created when you check out the Security Gateway and disappears when you check in.

Then you need to edit the SGWName.efw file and look for 4 rows similar to the ones below.
  • CHECKOUTUSER John
    CHECKOUTTIME 2005-11-16 11:28
    CHECKOUTCOMPUTER COMPJOHN
    CHECKOUTTOOL Security Editor
You need to remove all data behind the CHECKOUT* so it will look like this:
  • CHECKOUTUSER
    CHECKOUTTIME
    CHECKOUTCOMPUTER
    CHECKOUTTOOL
Save the changes and restart Clavister FineTune™.
