DNS No Record

Post by mape » 12 Jul 2017, 12:11

This FAQ applies to:
  • Clavister cOS Core

Question:
What does it mean when a FQDN Object has status "No Record".

Answer:
This means that the last query to the domain was incorrectly handled or that the domain couldn't find the queried address.

This per se does not mean immediate trouble, as the dns cache is set to 86400 seconds (1 Day), meaning that you will still have the last IP of the FQDN object that was correctly handled by the domain for 1 day.

And since the queries to the domain servers responded with a negative answer, the system starts sending queries every hour instead then based on the TTL.
So the "No Record" issue should be sorted out within an hour, provided that the DNS-server sends a correctly handled answer.
